Here's another painting I did as a submission to the monthly Virtual Paintout challenge. This time we went to Guatemala and I must say, I was rather surprised by the lack of roaming ability there was. Having said that, virtually everyplace I saw was beautiful!

By the Sea, Ghana

Recently I finished the largest painting I've ever done (Sligo). I believe this is the smallest. I painted this for March's Virtual Paintout challenge which was in Ghana. I've mentioned this before but I really love it when I have a chance to participate in this challenge. It's a lot of fun and such a great idea of Bill Guffey's!

Ecuador

I love Bill Guffey's Virtual Paintout art challenge. This is the first one I've done in a while. This month was a "walk" around Ecuador via Google Map's street view. I painted the scene on a canvas panel, not my favorite painting surface as I don't generally love the rough texture. but I had a lot of fun painting this location I found with the little homes, chickens, etc.

It's been a while since I participated in the Virtual Paintout. This month's location is New Orleans. I wandered around looking for something which caught my eye and ended up here. I set out to complete this painting in one sitting and was happy to have accomplished that. I started out with a brush but in the end used a palette knife for most of it. The actual image was rather drab but that just didn't seem right to me. Having never been to New Orleans, I tend to envision the area in the bold colors so I used those quite liberally here.

This month's Virtual Paintout challenge was in Romania. I just love this challenge and had so much fun touring the area. There was so much to choose from it was hard to settle on one place to paint. I may just have to paint another, we'll see how ambitious I feel after I get my Mosaic Medley submission done.

I painted this for the art challenge at The Virtual Paintout. I love the premise of this challenge which is to paint from Google Map's street view. I found the blog over the holidays and this was the perfect one to start out with as I used to live in Boston and I absolutely love it there! After "walking around" for quite while I finally decided upon this building on Oxford Street which turns out to be Lowell Hall at Harvard University.
