Riley Staring Off into the Wild Blue Yonder - Oil - WIP 1 & 2

Here's the underpainting for the painting I'm working on from the sketch I did last week. I did the underpainting in acrylic (this time I used water as a thinner LOL) because I wasn't feeling patient enough to wait for an oil underpainting to dry.

Here's the first stage of the oils.

  5. Hi Darlene - how's this coming along? Waiting to see the next version of this.I took a cue from you and put up a sketch I was doing on my blog, and then the marker comp (I'd be interested in your opinion since it's on to final after this).

  6. Oh my Sam! You've made quite a few posts since I last stopped by your blog. I'm going to have to read through them all! I'll post over there about your work, it looks great! I can't wait to see the final book!

This painting of Riley is still at the same stage I'm afraid, I've gotten sidetracked. I have a couple which are in progress which I'd like to finish up and post. Maybe this weekend... :)

  7. Darlene...I think Riley is staring off, watching me carry the SPLASH award down the road and present it to you. You deserve the SPLASH, and it is waiting for you.

  9. off to a good start. Now you are at that hard stage. Pushing beyond. At least this is the second hardest part for me. The hardest is when it is so close but not there yet and boredom is even setting in especially for large time consuming pieces.
